Cardiff Sixth Form College

Top quality education

With a reputation for outstanding educational achievement, excellent facilities and enriching extracurricular activities, Cardiff Sixth Form College (CSFC) focuses on individual care, and inspires students to make the most of their unique talents. CSFC is recognised as a top A-level provider in the UK. In 2013 our results were truly exceptional with 100% A*-B grades achieved. Within that was an amazing 94.7% A*-A grades. In 2011 we were placed first in the UK League Table by Best Schools and Best A-Level Results by The Spectator magazine, a sister publication of The Daily Telegraph. In February 2012 the College won two Crystal Awards from Education Advisers, the first for Top UK Co-Educational Boarding School and the second for Top Independent Sixth Form College, and topped the Spectator league tables in both these categories. In 2013 CSFC was ranked top of the A-level League Tables by results, cited in The Times and Daily Telegraph, achieving 51.7% A*, 95.1% A*-A, 100% A*-B.

The College offers two core routes of study: A-levels and Summer School. Students are able to benefit from experienced teachers, many of whom have Examining/Chief Examining experience. Since 2007, CSFC has enjoyed exceptional success in placing its students on high-demand courses of their choice such as medicine, dentistry and veterinary science. Our students have also had considerable success in gaining places to study other high-demand courses. Successful applications have been submitted to the most prestigious universities in the UK, including Oxford and Cambridge. Students are provided with expert guidance through each stage of the UCAS process.

The school environment

The College offers a strong system of pastoral support, with a designated member of staff to support students throughout their time at the College. We have an excellent track record for placing students in regular work experience settings, across a variety of career disciplines. The Student Accommodation is a newly built facility that opened in September 2013 and will accommodate 250 students. All rooms are single rooms with an en-suite shower room and have shared kitchen facilities; there are also studio rooms available which have their own cooking facilities. The complex has wardens who are on duty seven days a week 24 hours a day so it is a completely safe environment. Students also have access to state-of-the-art sports facilities.

What makes us unique?

We host a range of in-house extracurricular activities which foster teamwork and discipline, including sports, music, debating and the arts. Skills acquired here carry over in work placements at home and on the Goodwill Ambassador Programme in Malaysia and Bahrain. International trips (CERN), competitions such as the Science Olympiads and NASA Space Settlement Design Competition (ISSDC) allow students to push themselves academically while adding a global dimension to their work experience portfolios. Since 2011, students from CSFC have been on the winning team at the ISSDC competition held at the Johnson Space Center, Houston Texas. Located in the vibrant city of Cardiff, our small college prides itself on the fact that our students form strong bonds with each other whilst being encouraged to participate in a wide variety of extracurricular activities in a friendly environment. Our aim is to prepare students for a well-balanced, modern life.
